Meet Dr. Nirvana

Most of us know our blood pressure.

We understand that it's an important vital sign because it tells us something about the health of our heart, blood vessels and brain.

But blood pressure doesn't tell us how well our brain is functioning today.

It doesn't tell us whether we're mentally overloaded.

It doesn't tell us whether we're struggling to focus, experiencing decision fatigue or thinking as clearly as we could be.

As a neuroscientist and public health epidemiologist, I've spent my career studying the brain.

Over time, one idea became increasingly clear to me.

Mental Clarity should become another preventative vital sign of health.

Not because it replaces traditional health measures, but because it tells us something different; how well our brain is functioning in everyday life.

That's why I created Diary of a Neuroscientist.

My mission

To make neuroscience practical, understandable and useful—not just for scientists, but for everyone.

Through practical neuroscience, evidence-based education and The Clarity Lab, I help people better understand how their brain works so they can improve focus, reduce stress, make better decisions and build lasting mental clarity.

Whether through short educational videos, keynote presentations, workplace training or practical neuroscience tools, everything I create has one purpose:

Helping people move from mental overload to mental clarity.

My Background

My work sits at the intersection of neuroscience, psychology, genetics, public health and business to bridging scientific research with practical solutions that improve everyday life.

I hold qualifications in:

  • PhD in Neuroscience

  • Master of Public Health (Advanced Epidemiology & Biostatistics)

  • MBA

  • BSc (Psychology & Genetics)

  • BSc (Med) Honours in Human Genetics

My research has included postdoctoral work in anxiety disorders at the University of Cape Town and a WHO-funded scholarship to the Karolinska Institute in Sweden.

Alongside Diary of a Neuroscientist, I'm also the founder of Nirvana Natural Bliss, a science-led skincare company built on the same philosophy of translating scientific evidence into practical solutions that improve people's lives.

My Vision

I believe the future of healthcare is not only about treating disease but also about preventing it. Prevention has transformed physical health. I believe it has potential to transform brain health too.

For decades, we've measured vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate and blood glucose because they provide valuable insight into our physical health.

I believe mental clarity deserves the same attention.

Not because it replaces traditional measures of health, but because it provides another window into how well our brain is functioning in everyday life.

My vision is to make Mental Clarity a recognised part of preventative health—helping people identify cognitive strain before it affects their wellbeing, relationships, work and quality of life.

Through neuroscience, public health, education and practical tools like The Clarity Lab, my goal is to empower people to understand their brains, recognise the early signs of cognitive strain and take proactive steps to protect their cognitive wellbeing throughout life.

Because prevention shouldn't begin when disease starts. It should begin while our brains are still healthy enough to thrive.

It's about thinking clearer, functioning better and living well.

My Philosophy

Mental Clarity is not a luxury.

I believe it is a fundamental part of health.

Just as we monitor our physical wellbeing, we should also understand how well our brains are functioning in everyday life.

Because when people think more clearly, they make better decisions, build healthier relationships, perform at their best and live more meaningful lives.
